After the three weeks consecrated to beginning musicians, the main summer camp is devoted to more advanced students. Traditionally organized by Janet Anthony, the camp offers private lessons, technique classes or sectionals, theory classes, chamber music, and large ensembles (band, orchestra and jazz band). Professors and students alike participate in the Friday evening recitals. Two final concerts permitted the numerous ensembles to show the result of these three weeks of intensive work. And it was during the last concert of the camp that the Hector Ambroise Band, under the baton of Pierre Leroy, offered a performance of Songs of Sailors and Sea by Robert W. Smith in memory of Mr. Claudy Krann, former mayor of Jacmel and great friend of the school. Once again, we thank Janet Anthony and our international and Haitian volunteers who came to give three weeks of their time to help the young musicians of the Dessaix-Baptiste Music School progress.
